The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair

Other highlights from the day .....

Clare Gage
'Clare Gage's elegant collection of tableware is an intimate fusion of hand-crafted textiles and delicate ceramics. Every piece is carefully formed from hand woven fabrics, transformed into individual moulds and created in porcelain. Each item is a modern day treasure, eclectic, individual and yet completely functional.'

Katie Almond
'I produce hand-painted porcelain jugs, cups, cake stands and brooches. Each piece is essentially a canvas for decoration and collage. I am inspired by nostalgia, old paper ephemera and vintage textiles.
My collection uses elements from a different era alongside my own drawings, text and collage. I focus on pattern and detail using mixed media to collage and juxtapose the found and made. The pieces represent ‘one off’ pieces that explore nostalgic themes, scale and hand painted decoration.
'

Catherine Carr Glass  ... Amazing glass pieces inspired by textiles ...
'Catherine Carr Crochets & Knits with Glass, each piece has been individually knitted or crocheted by hand. They are then heated and manipulated through several firings at a very high temperature, eventually emerging as a formed glass vessel. Because of this hand crafted process, all the pieces are original and individual with no two being exactly the same.'

 Helen Button
Wheel thrown porcelain pots, absolutely adorable, decorative & functional little tumblers.

Adam Frew
'Adam is a story teller, sometimes intuitively, always spontaneously, and this reveals itself in his work.  The white porcelain is a perfect ground for the inky cobalt drawings which decorate his pots. Some imagery is restrained to the simplicity of a single line and other images depict busy narratives.'
Also, here's a video of him throwing a large pot in 2 parts - absolutely fascinating...
