Make or Break

In my crit today I kind of let some steam off about what I really want to be doing right now ..
Since I've started looking at animation over CommTech, I've almost been labeled as an animator; I'm now starting to wonder whether I'm pressuring myself into taking animation as my primary area of work just because I think it's the right thing to do - rather than wanting to really do it.
When I think about it though, if I start talking about animations or looking at any that I like, I get really excited and can start visualising ideas of my own to then start working on... I've just not taken that next step to actually doing anything about it yet.
So I feel the best thing to do is to get stuck into one final project this year and decide whether I want to set my aims on animation or move on and explore other media as well....
So considering all the projects going on at the moment, I now have the following plans...

- Flickbook Neighbourhoods...
I've sent off my details to Jane with the blog attachment, I'm not too hopeful that I'll be offered the role of one of the required artists, but if I do succeed then that's a bonus! If I do, then this project will run after the Live Brief Deadline, so it'll be something I can work on over the Summer.
- Artivism...
I'll continue to work on my 30second piece for the projections. This needs to be done by Friday so it'll be finished and out the way before I know it, and another piece I can put into my (slow) building portfolio of work.
- Light Night...
I was planning on focusing on the 'Disappearing City' theme, inspired by the D&AD brief me and Paul were starting to work on a few weeks ago. I'll put in the project proposal form for it, and with the same attitude as the Flickbook project, I won't be too disheartened if I don't get the opportunity to work, but if I do then it's a bonus, and another project I can work on throughout the Summer!
-Green Team...
I'll put aside one day a week to work with Charlotte on the project, focusing on the animation aspects of the documentary. The progress is pretty slow on the whole thing at the moment, so in the meantime I can focus on my main project for the majority of my time left on this brief....

Main Project:
As David pointed out, I keep seeing these animations that I keep saying 'wow' to, and getting excited about, but I don't have anything of my own that I can proudly say, 'yeah, I did that animation'... So I need to do that first before I try risk taking and getting myself in an even bigger rut, trying to teach myself new techniques and random projects I'm doing just for the sake of a live client.
So I started talking about an idea for a stop motion animation that I had been thinking about since doing the recent elective and working with electrical tape. I want to create an animation with tape drawings on the wall and animations within the tape of illustrations coming to life.
Once I've sketched this out further and developed some storyboards I'll update and post some more info.

So it's make or break for my animation days!
(I'm hoping make!)
