I've come across some more animation videos that I've seen before but had forgotten about - both stop frame again, and both a little different...

This is such a beautiful video, so imaginative and dreamy; it captures the message and feel of the song all in one.
I also love the fact how it's still quite jumpy and you can clearly see the slow frame/second rate. I guess this is exactly so that you can tell how it is made, and adds extra quirkiness to the dreamy style. It's a good example of how stop frame animation doesn't have to be smooth at all.
There's also this animation, it's pretty long, but it's worth the wait. (I think I may have actually blogged this before it's that good...)
It's adorable - it's animated, and it's about a cake - my perfect world!
I think both of these films just prove how important the whole set up is, props/background/materials, as well as lighting and sound.. they're all essential to that fine finished look for the animation.
I've started to read up on the animator as well, Kirsten Lepore.
She's a freelance animator and illustrator based in central New Jersey, and graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Experimental Animation.
There's some contact details on there, so I'm going to give that a go and then update if there's any feedback from her.
