Really excited to see how it all goes and get involved helping out!
Also helping out at Cockburn College in Leeds with Elvina in the 2nd year. We're heading over there on the 19th October to help out with workshops themed around the The Big Draw week. We'll be working with Year 11 children, which will be a new age group for me, so I'm a little aprehensive but excited all the same!
Also me and Claire are going along to a lecture in Huddersfield on the 11th October, it's also repeated in Sheffield/Leeds over the next month or so:
An Arrangement of Knowledge: Contemporary Art Practice and Mental Health
A lecture tour by Paul Digby
"Artist Paul Digby will outline the mental health sector, including diagnosis, medication, therapies and arts projects. He discusses how this has influenced his practice through projects at Rampton and High Royds Hospitals and his work with mental health service users. He also discusses the influences of Artists Marcel Duchamp and Jean Dubbufet (founder of Art Brut), and Psychiatrists R.D. Laing, and Eric BerneThe lecture provides time for discussion and debate. It is informative and people will leave with a good over view of the mental health sector and how this influences art practice.
Paul Digby is an artist based in Leeds. He graduated from Norwich School of Art in 1997 and recent exhibitions include, the Thackray Museum (2010) and SIAD Sheffield (2010)."
If this proves useful and relevant me and Claire also said it might be worth paying Paul a visit or getting in contact with him following the lecture, quite handy as he's based in Leeds!
