"Cockpit Arts is a social enterprise and the UK's only creative-business incubator for designer-makers. We are a renowned hotbed of creative talent, focused on nurturing and supporting talented designers and artisans with a craft basis to their work."
Definitely want to pop to London and go take a gander at what they've got on offer, they also have open studios for the public to have that 'extra special' experience by seeing behind the usually closed doors.
I'm loving the huge range of designers on their database as well, here's a few that stood out for me:
Katherine Wardropper
"Award winning textile designer who specializes in 3D textiles. Using a self developed textile technique, Katherine creates highly unique and timeless pieces for high-end fashion and interiors. Each piece is unique and a testament to the nature of couture craftsmanship."
Naomi Ryder
"Naomi Ryder is an extraordinary textile designer and illustrator specialising in embroidery, drawing with stitch to create beautiful images of the everyday.
Naomi's proficiency in illustration led to her combining her love of drawing with textile work using both hand and machine embroidery and occasionally using print."
Lizzie Allen
"Lizzie's hand-screen printed wallpapers appeal to those who appreciate originality, novelty and quality in product design. The characteristic traditional hand screen print; repeat pattern; vibrant colour and whimsical illustrations are part of her unique, timeless and charming style. A flexible, made to order service is offered and all wallpapers are Made in England."
Abigail Brown
"Abigail's work involves the collecting of new and used materials which she uses to create surfaces rich in pattern, colour and texture.
Abigail's little textile creations have been exhibited and sold across the globe. Her fabric birds are particularly enchanting, most beautifully displayed in a colourful flock."
Also, if anyone's looking into selling work/getting their name noticed, this blog from cockpit arts is a perfect intro to help you on your way...
