First tutorial with David..
Went over ideas I have for a couple of animations, including my animals talking...
David suggested how initially this could be really really short, using different techniques - so that I can get the most out of the minimal time we have... which definitely makes sense!
So rather than half a minute of talking, I can literally try doing 1-2 seconds of one word, or one movement, and see if it works, if it's successful then I can tackle the next step, but if it isn't then I haven't wasted a lot more time that I originally would have.
'Disappearing City' the brief that I'm hopefully working on with Paul.. David suggested I just tackle this as my main project, but I want to have this running in the background, just something me and Paul can both bring up every week for half a day and just let it run and if we manage to create anything worthwhile then we can push forward on it and find a live context to put it towards; we were thinking maybe Light Night in the Autumn... we shall see!
David also mentioned that I should look at my old work and in particular, anything that I've done in the past that I've been really pleased with. This should try to help me distinguish a visual language that is important to deliver within my work. I firstly thought of the paintings that I used to do for my GCSE's/ALevels, I've not really painted properly since then and I do miss doing it, perhaps I could start to work out how to bind all of these ideas together. I'll get hold of my brother to dig out my old paintings and take some photos for me and see if I can get anywhere!
The tutorial was useful for working out what I want to do and reassuring myself that I'm on the right tracks, but it's hard to click into everything 100% just yet because there's still commitments of the Critical Studies essay that, as much as I don't want it to, it'll take over everything I intend on doing!
I just hope I can slowly get the ball rolling in the meantime!
