First Steps of the Live Brief

I'm slowly coming in touch with everything now that the Enterprise Module is finally out the way... My main plan for the Live Brief is to start to really explore animation through some self-directed projects that allow me to develop my style/story-telling abilities/general approach to animating. These self-directed projects will include:
  • The animals animation... I put this to one side whilst the VisCom Exhibition was underway and will now return to carry on with it. This will predominantly be hand-drawn animation, I might try out some lip-syncing techniques as well.
  • Collaborative Project with Paul... We decided to start looking at a D&AD brief (full brief here), it's an open 'moving image' brief, so we've got a broad scope with a rough theme. Here's some notes we've made after our first brainstorming session... I'll post some more details once we get cracking, in the mean time, if you can spare a minute to answer 2 quick questions about your views of the city, please fill in our VERY quick survey here.... Thanks!!!

  • I want to submit my work to at least one competition brief and/or animation & film festival/event... The D&AD deadline for the brief above is too soon for me & Paul to complete it in time, but we have considered putting our completed project for submission for Light Night if it works out relevant, which I feel it will!
  • I'll also be developing a further 2 or 3 self-directed projects... I have my first tutorial with David tomorrow to discuss ideas about this.
Not too much to update for now as I've been snowed under with Enterprise and Critical Studies and now I'm trying to balance the remaining time well with my Critical Studies essay commitments, so far it's actually working quite well! I feel like a busy little bee again, it's fun and quite exciting being able to see things starting to develop and hopefully get going pretty soon. :)
