Some more little gems me and Paul were talking about, and some other impressive stopframe animations that make me feel a little tingly inside :)
This is such a pretty song, and those pop-up books are AMAZING! I love the illustrations and the cuteness of it all, it's really really simple, yet so effective. Perfect :)
This has made me think again about the size of the flip books I want to make - the tiny concertina books that Sarah made that inspired me to make small flip books had a big impact, because they're so small and almost unnoticable.. the detail of them just makes them even more delightful... but this just makes me think, sod that... bigger is obviously better!
The embedding is disabled.. but watch this!!!! Coldplay - Strawberry Swing
Watch the start and if you feel the need to skip it, (I'll be upset if you do...) but fastforward to about 3min 20sec..

It's just jawdropping.. well to me anyway.. I think because I understand how it's made, I understand the painstaking effort gone into this.. every last detail, it's beautiful :)
The perspectives, the lighting, the props, the amount of stills they must have used.. maaaaaaaaan it's just mind blowing...
Also, here's some info about the video, worth a quick read! http://www.coldplay.com/post_popnews.php?id=448
Claire showed me this at college last week, it's so brilliant!!!! Again, an incredible amount of planning and practicing through before the whole thing comes toghether, but it's so worth it!
The sound effects make this ... they're so crisp.. damn it i want to play with sound :(
I remember Graham showing us this in first year, and I've probably blogged it before, but it's just so so pretty and slick and absolutely brilliant.. love it!!! ingenious!!
This makes me want to play with pop up books as well, not just stick to flip books- keeping with the animation theme, I think they fit in pretty well actually, as you're almost animating the book, you're creating movement. Hmmmm... I might have a go and see what I come up with, or realise I'm just doing things for the sake of doing them instead of working towards something that I can finalise and collect together as something relevant to show for the exhibition.
I think I'm going to just carry on playing around for another week or so, and then over Christmas I can really think about which way to take everything.
I'm planning over Christmas as well to get started on the short animation piece to display on the showreel at the college exhibition, not really had a clear idea what to do yet, but I'm praying it'll all click together :)
Crikey this is hard work!
