One area I haven't yet delved into is animation with sound... and it's pretty important as it's rare to see anything published without sound..
So I wanted something basic... such as a man walking with footsteps.. so I created a cut out figure, with the butterfly pins at each joint, so that I could create a man walking, to which I could work out the timings (fps) and all the rest of it, to add my small sound clip to.
This seemed to prove DAMN hard... being the perfectionist that I am, I wanted to create as realistic a walk cycle as possible - this would help a lot with the timing of the sound too.. it's quite hard to work out the actual body movements we make when we walk, a natural swing to the arms; the way the leg bends and stretches at each point of the walk... my first trial, my man started to just look like he was doing a head dive for the ground...
So I got my housemate Crystal to walk slowly for me while I tried to capture the basic movements on my camera...
This helped a lot, and i sketched out the 'cycle' and then tried to fill the in-between 'poses'... it's still working progress so I'll update as soon as I've got a little further with it all.
