Now and Beyond...

We had our final animation group meeting today with Christian& Toby, discussing a rough plan of what we intend on doing for the last 2 weeks of the brief. So here's a sum up of what I'm working on at the moment, and what I hope to try to cover for the final step of this project.

Now...
I thought I'd post on here quick what I'm playing around with at the moment. I'm really just trying to familiarise myself with after effects so that when I come to do a specific brief, I know how to do the simple basics, so just trying out little things to get the ball rolling.
I'd seen this technique used as a title of an animation, so I thought I'd give it a go..  (this is just working progress so looks pretty rubbish right now, but hopefully you get the idea)...

These are photos taken whilst I was playing around with some water and food colouring, bit of time lapse playing around. I'll explain more when I've put them into after effects :)
I have a one-to-one session booked with one of the computer technicians tomorrow morning to help me with a few queries on after effects, (such as the shaky camera finish and a few things on my big list below). I'm looking forward to that and the big sigh of 'ohhhhh, so that's how you do it' relief that I'm hoping for.

And I'm obviously continuing researching through animators/techniques/inspirations... etc. which I will continue to post on here.

Beyond...
My List of things I would like to achieve by the end of the brief, (which may well start to grow once I've got through a few of them)
  • Cel animation, (the traditional way)
  • Cut up paper --> animation (similar concept to Matt's wolf mask animation - start with a full piece and cut it down.. then play it backwards)
  • Make short animations to Meg's story openings
  • Create a 3D environment, (using green screen?)
  • Animate to sound
  • Create a website to use as an online portfolio
Not too daring for 2 weeks left, (and that isn't including this weekend, as that's home time where no work ever seems to be accomplished..)
I pointed out in the group meeting earlier, how I wanted to do a animate a walk cycle with the sound of footsteps, but soon discovered how a walk cycle is a whole new kettle of fish to get involved with in the first place, so animating sound to that proved very challenging - and evidently, the sound didn't happen, and a poor walk cycle eventually did.
So I'm not sure how far I'll get with my list before the deadline, but if I knuckle down then I'll manage the most of it!! (And even if I don't, I'll carry on pursing areas I'm interested in beyond this brief, and then hopefully incorporate them into future modules)

So I best get some more work done and stop waffling on here..
