We watched a bit of 3D TV last night in the front room, whilst doing so it made me wonder some more about the 'future of communication technology', how it's all developing oh so fast and oh so much... Where's the limit?!
How does it effect us as visual communicators? We obviously need to keep up to date with the relevant advances in technology, as it can affect our work dramatically. Even though I see myself sticking alongside the more traditional methods of animation, developments in software programs would have an impact on my work - and as I've previously discussed, the combination of traditional and new means of animating can look really amazing and have quite an impact.
It also took my thoughts back to communication technology in the first year, where I spent a large chunk of my research looking into distribution, not just the making of things. The recent hype of 3D in cinemas is definitely evident, with the re-releases of Toy Story in 3D, Up, Coraline and A Christmas Carol, it takes the viewing experience to a new level.
I am yet to see a film in an IMax cinema, (I may take a trip to Bradford to check out A Christmas Carol in 3D in the next week or so) and it's another bigger and better way of watching a film. The industry keeps pushing and pushing the levels of entertainment, it makes me wonder where it's going to go next.
