After Effects / CreativeCow Tutorials

We had our AfterEffects intro workshop on monday, and I followed on the software frenzy with a creative cow tutorial to try out some more things and broaden my knowledge of the program... Here's the result

After Effects - Harry P from Jodie Curley on Vimeo.

It's basic layering of still photographs, using a camera, a null object, adjustable layers and effects.
I had to do a little extra research into a few things to get a better idea of what I was actually doing, including; adjustable layers, what a null object is & what it does, what a transfer mode is and layer settings including bevel & emboss.
I'll be doing a fair few more of these tutorials, they're so beneficial as you can stop and go back to something you haven't quite understood. They aren't necessarily directly related to your work, but it appears that there are several concepts and tools that I will definitely return to - such as the lightning flash effect; made by briefly altering the exposure of the background layer, I can see being a useful nugget of advice to keep hold of.
