Some Fancy Bits 'n' Pieces

We then took a wonder for the next few hours looking out for design events taking place. We came across a light design exhibition in the North Tower to the Tyne Bridge on the Quayside. There were plenty of funky designs and exciting ideas going on, but again unfortunately there was nothing too jaw dropping for me.

We pootled along to EELUS Dsigns in the Electrik Sheep store, a litle further upto the city centre. The work on display was stencil based work with a very urban, graphic feel to it - quite Banksy-esque, but a little darker. I really loved this stuff, and took a few cards and some photos of the exhibition.

I also took a look around the shop at some of the books and arty bits and pieces they had for sale - again for a small fortune. I then came across one book which I loved and couldn’t resist its reasonable price. The 1000 Journals Project, by ‘Someguy’, and forward by Kevin Kelly. It does what it says on the tin really, it’s a collection of journal inserts from across the world. There’s anything from a page of obscure writing, describing days, photographs, illustrations, paintings, collage, stitched work... it’s a beautiful book.

After spending a bit of money, we wandered on to another art and craft shop around the corner, Poppy Treffry, and their hand stitched bags and purses really caught my eye as well as Donna Wilson’s rather odd stuffed animals... cuuuute :)

Below are some samples of Poppy Treffry's hand stitched purses and hand bags.
